In typical Ferrari arrogance, Ferrari have the named their latest car Laferrari, if it didn’t look quite so impressive I would complain about the name!
Ferrari and McLaren have obviously been leaking information to each other as the details of both the cars are extremely close and clearly highly comparative.
LaFerrari has a normally aspirated V12 of 6.3 litres that produces 789bhp and revs to 9250 and an electric motor good for 161bhp more for a total of 950bhp.
LaFerrari weighs in at 1255kg and has performance very close to that of the P1 – 0-62mph in under 3 seconds and 0-186mph in a scant 15.5 seconds (that 0-186mph time is 1.5s quicker than the P1). Ferrari say LaFerrari will be able to lap the Nurburgring in under 7 minutes and seems as quick round Fiorano as the 599XX.
Delivery of the cars will begin in October and run through to 2015 with a total of 499 cars, all of which will be sold by invitation only, so unless you have had at least 6 Ferrari’s in the past few years including a 599GTO, SA Aperta or similar, you are unlikely to be invited to buy one. Depostis will be requested at some point this month, post Geneva.
